Preface

It is a matter of great satisfaction that our two earlier text books, Plant Physiology" and "Elements of Biochemistry" have been well received by the teachers and students. For quite sometime we had been receiving requests suggestions from many teachers to prepare a combined text book of 'Plant Physiology and Biochemistry to cater the requirement of some universities.

Recently the syllabi of many Indian universities have undergone many changes, in which the complete paper of 'Plant Physiology and Biochemistry' has been introduced. Seing the requirement of the students decided to bring out a complete text book on the subject covering the syllabi of U.P. and many other Indian universities.

In the present book the subject matter of our books 'Plant Physiology and 'Elements of Biochemistry' has been largely incorporated. Wherever needed the new material has been added in the book.

In the revision of syllabi many Indian universities have changed the pattern of question paper. To fulfil this requirement of the students. sufficient number of different types of questions viz. long, short, very short answer types and multiple choice questions have been included at the end of each chapter.

It is hoped that the present book shall fulfil the requirement of the students and they will be greatly benefitted with this book. Valuable suggestions for the improvement of the book will be thankfully acknowledged.
