This book contains essays on a variety of subjects in the fields of religion, philosophy, psychology, education, the meaning of life and everyday living. An original light is cast on some teachings of Hinduism and Buddhism, which are interpreted psychologically in a way reminiscent of Krishnamurti's teachings. ROHIT MEHTA (1908-1995) was educated in Bombay, Surat and Ahmedabad. As a student he took part in the Indian freedom struggle and was imprisoned on more than one occasion. He was attracted by the Socialist movement, but not satisfied with its philosophy joined the Theosophical Society soon becoming an active worker. He was the International Secretary of the Theosophical Society from 1941 to 1944, and became the General Secretary of the Theosophical Society in India in 1945 which post he held up to 1959.
A well-known author and eloquent speaker, Rohit Mehta lectured in many parts of the world on Religion, Philosophy, Yoga, Psychology and allied subjects.
ALL the essays, except two, appearing in this book under the general title, THE NEGATIVE APPROACH, were originally published in The Theosophist, The Indian Theosophist, The Theosophical Review and The Teacher. The two essays appearing for the first time in this book are: 'Life-A Ceremonial', and 'The Secret of Right Action'. This book of essays is a sequel to the book entitled Towards Integration, which was published in 1954 by the Indian Bookshop, The Theosophical Society, Banaras, India.
